Meet the Team

Dana Vredeveld – PTS

Hi!  I’m Dana, aka Daner the Trainer!  I am the owner of Excel Fitness & Lifestyle Consultants. I have been involved in health and fitness since I was a child.  Growing up I was a “Pleasantly plump” child. At age 13 I decided to start attending aerobics classes with my Mother. This ignited my interest in exercise - I was hooked on those good feelings working out gave me.  Even though I had been working out like a machine in my late teens and early twenties, my weight slowly crept up.  I was eating “healthy” but I was also eating too many treats on top of that healthy food.  I had become a “Sugar Addict” (I still have a sweet tooth to this day!).  I had to learn the hard way that if I wasn’t eating properly I could not achieve my ultimate goals of feeling great in my own skin.  I remember crying in change rooms because clothes never fit me properly.   It wasn’t until Christmas of 2005 when I got really sick with Pneumonia that I decided I needed to clean my nutrition up.  I created a realistic, lifestyle plan for myself and began my journey to lose the extra weight and emotional garbage for good!  I lost 45lbs over 18 months and I have kept it off.

I have a love and passion for fitness and health, which I live and breathe every day. It is my lifestyle to eat well (with some treats and the occasional "Snaccident", of course!), exercise regularly, and balance out other important things in my life, such as family, friends, work and play.

In 2016, my Hubby and I were blessed with a sweet little girl, named Ella. And then again in 2021, we brought our other sweetie, Lucy into this world. Becoming a mother has brought a whole new meaning of purpose to my life. Part of my mission is to raise Ella and Lucy in a healthy and loving environment with my Hubby, Chris, so that they can grow up with a healthy mindset in all aspects of their lives.  I am grateful to have the best of both worlds – working with my clients and spending quality time with my family.

Philosophy

I believe that our MINDSET, regular physical activity, and clean eating are 3-key components to sustain a healthy lifestyle. I believe that these components should not just be about short-term gains but also be directed towards a lifestyle change that promotes healthy living on an ongoing basis. I work closely with my clients in identifying the most effective training programs for goal achievement and maximum results.

As a professional fitness and lifestyle coach, I guide people towards a healthier and balanced lifestyle. Over the last 18 years of working with clients, I have learned that everybody is unique with their own strengths and limitations.    I know that I have the ability to help people to change their MINDSET, and through the power of exercise and nutrition, to improve their physical and emotional fitness, this led to huge changes in their lives.  And in some cases, even save their lives!  This helped me realize that my passion and my purpose had joined forces in this thing they call "a job"!! I can’t tell you how fulfilling it is to be able go to “work” every day and share my passion with my clients to change their lives.

How do I do it?  I create custom plans based on my client’s health, schedule, and goals. I strive to transform their minds and their bodies to influence them to make more mindful decisions to achieve their ultimate goals.

I have been known for being a positive, enthusiastic, little ball of fire who is there to educate, motivate and cheer you forward to a stronger, happier, more effective you!

BUCKET LIST! Competed in a Figure Competition and placed 3rd!  Yay!

I have participated in various forms of exercise for many years.  I have always enjoyed working out as it makes me feel energized and gives me a feeling of accomplishment. With lots of help I have been able to change my nutrition habits and along with an exercise program I have achieved a much healthier weight.

I retired in 2015, after working at a desk job for 46 years. I then decided to expand my interest in fitness and to start a new career. I obtained my PTS certificate so I could also help others on their journey towards a healthier lifestyle. It is truly a life long journey and has been very rewarding and motivating for me. I enjoy working one on one with people as well as training in a small group setting. I have made lots of new friends who share the same goals to improve their health and well-being.  It has been an exciting journey for me and I look forward to improving myself as well as helping more people achieve their goals.

Kate started her fitness journey as a client of Excel Fitness 6 years ago. Although she was always active with running, volleyball and dragon boating throughout her life she needed to understand and elevate her fitness and nutrition goals and habits. Kate has transitioned her fitness passion from being an Excel client to an Excel trainer by earning her Personal Training Specialist certificate.

She enjoys working with clients to create a program that will produce results for each individual and their personal goals.

“There is nothing more rewarding than helping someone achieve their goals by working hard. It is a great feeling to see a client happy, healthy, strong and confident.”
